A Brick & Mortar Monday

It's frigid here in Connecticut and easy to find excuses not to leave the house. Yesterday, after getting some things done and sitting at the computer for hours, I had the urge to get out, see something, and feel inspired that warmer days are ahead. I drove to Terrain, which is an upscale, experiential garden, home and lifestyle store. This store just makes me happy! I meandered around for an hour, taking in the glorious displays, enjoying the beautiful scents of candles, sampling the soaps and lotions. While I was perusing the books for decorating and party ideas, the sales associate struck up a conversation with me about entertaining. I was relaxed and engaged in her Zen energy. The next thing I knew, I was buying some items to refresh my home.

Could I have bought the same things online? Sure, but I would not have had the opportunity to connect, experience the sights and sounds and leave with a beautiful shopping bag full of items I didn't even know I needed. I know online shopping is easy and convenient, and we love and appreciate our customers who find us from far away, but nothing replaces the experience at a well curated store that can have you dreaming of days ahead. If you have the opportunity to visit us in New Canaan or Westport, leave time to pop into the special boutiques that give our towns so much charm. It is all of us that keep them open....and these wonderful shops that help keep us connected.
